Now the Spirit expressly declares that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and things taught by demons, speaking lies hypocritically and having a seared conscience as with a branding iron, but the natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned; but you, beloved, ought to remember the words spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you that in the last time mockers will come following after their own ungodly lusts, setting their mouths against the heavens and their tongues strutting through the earth, therefore they return to His people fully with waters of abundance; And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High? This wisdom is not wisdom descending from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic; realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come upon them; For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, ungrateful, because even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasonings, and their foolish hearts were darkened; professing to be wise, they became fools and were inclosed in their own fat, with their mouths they keep speaking arrogantly; the expression of their faces bears witness against them, And they display their sin like Sodom, they do not even conceal it. Woe to their soul because they have brought evil on themselves and will receive the due penalty of their perversion as those counting it a pleasure reveling in the daytime, they being stains and blemishes reveling with deception in their deceivings while feasting together with you, having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children who live for pleasure while dead even as they live; but every tree not planted by God the Father will be uprooted and they will soon be cut down like grass and wither like plants, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite and whose glory is their shame, setting their minds on earthly things; but for the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death; And he will drink of the wine of the wrath of God prepared unmixed in the cup of His anger, and will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb; You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever determines to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God.
Do not be deceived; God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows he will also reap because the one who sows to his own flesh will from that flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life so I say walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. Do not live governed by lustful desires even as the Gentiles who do not know God; as children who obey, do not conform yourselves to the former lusts which operated when you were ignorant; we are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us from this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception. The Lord is not slow about His promise but is patient toward you, not purposing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance, for after a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay, Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who eagerly wait for Him! It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost.
