As calendars turn welcoming a new year, many establish new vision boards setting intentions and outlook for their personal growth across the next 12 months. Health goals, career projections, dream vacations, business goals, self-improvement hopes – these typical images aim to inspire individual advancement. But what if we flipped conventional thinking to make 2024 about empowering others’ highest potential instead? What about a reverse vison board?
Behind the concept of “Reverse Vision Boards” is the compelling idea of harnessing our imagination, meditations, confessions and prayers to see and manifest blessings for others based on the commandment “love thy neighbor as thyself.” It’s simple, remove 90% of yourself from the board and replace it with family, friends, and even enemies. Visualize them thinking, operating, and living in the highest form of success based on your knowledge of them. Meditate, speak it, converse with God on it with as much thought and energy as you would for yourself, allowing it to resonate for them as it would for yourself. When we collectively engage in this practice, we assist the person by adding strength. Below are a few suggestions:
- Verbalize over their lives spoken blessings that affirm and empower
- Visualize through created images their values and strengths
- Pray over key mileposts wished for and its Kingdom impact
- Journal heartfelt intercession, gratitude, testimonies tracking their growth
Another tool for the vision board is to generate a bio, written in present tense, on the individual(s) and link it with what you are visualizing. The 10% is reserved for your faith-based vision, what only God can bring to pass. Write a bio on yourself as well and use it to chart your faith. Read it daily as if you are introducing yourself to an audience at an event. See it; feel it; pray over it, for those on your reverse vision board and yourself. Have fun and blessings.
Happy New Year!
